The New Samsung Star

After the enormous success of the Samsung S5230 (more than 30 million units sold worldwide) it is now surprise that Samsung is coming with a successor of this cheap mobile phone. The Samsung Star 2, also known as S5620, will again be a mobile phone with a 3 inch touchscreen that is available for about 150 euro.

The new phone has a slightly new design looking a bit more slick than the old one. The phone will again support a 3.0 inch touchscreen, however this time it will be a capacitve touchscreen instead of the old resistive one used for the original one. This will significantly increase the usability of the phone as this type of screen will respond way better that the resistive ones. The Samsung Star 2 will also get the new TouchWiz UI which is easy to use and can adjusted to your likings.

It also has improved connectivity as in now supports WiFi enabling you to attach your phone to a wireless network so that you can enjoy internet for free. The Star 2 is more focused on being social. Samsung has worked to tightly integrate social networking capabilities and gives you the choice how to stay in touch with the people important you. The Samsung Hub for example is now integrated, this application collects all information from the different social networks that you are active on and puts it in one place.

Besides a better touchscreen and improved connectivity the Samsung Star 2 S5620 is again equipped with applications such as a MP3 player, FM radio, Bluetooth and a 3.2 megapixel camera making this mobile phone with decent specifications for a reasonable low price. Because of that we can expect that the Samsung Star 2 S5620 might become another cash cow for Samsung.

The Samsung Star 2 was officially announced in January and is expected to start shipping to Europe in February where it will cost around 149 euro.
